Saudi Arabia - Supporters Provided Logistics To Controversial Saudi Tweeter - Official

Manama: A controversial Saudi man detained for reportedly disrespecting God and insulting Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) had received financial and logistical support as he fled Saudi Arabia , a Saudi official said.

"He was given material and logistic assistance from people who shared his beliefs and objectives," said Khalid Al Shayea, the secretary general of the International Organisation for defending the Prophet, referring to Saudi tweeter Hamza Kashgari.

"They prepared his departure from Saudi Arabia before the order to arrest him was issued and worked out his movements to Jordan, the UAE and Malaysia on his way to New Zealand where he would seek political asylum," he said in remarks published by Saudi news site Sabq on Tuesday.

The "accomplices" welcomed Kashgari and hid him in an undisclosed place in Malaysia while they worked on politicising his case, Al Shayea said.
